Wall Street starts on the rise after Trump signs aid plan

The New York Stock Exchange opened sharply higher Monday, for its last week of the year, after President Donald Trump finally signed the plan to help the American economy: the Dow Jones gained 0.58%, the Nasdaq advanced 0.85%. At the previous close on Christmas Eve, the flagship index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, rose 0.23% to 30,199.87 points.

The Nasdaq, with strong technological coloring, had then gained 0.26% to 12,804.73 points and the extended S&P 500 index had appreciated by 0.35% to 3,703.06 points.
