Diesel, the best-selling fuel in the country, was worth 1.2754 euros per liter on average on Friday, up 0.81 cents from the previous week, according to data from the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

Prices have increased every week for the past two months.

Diesel was still worth 1.1968 euros on November 6.

The unleaded super 95 sold for 1.3693 euros last week, up 0.71 cents over one week.

SP95-E10, which contains up to 10% ethanol, rose 1.05 cents to 1.3537 euros.

Finally, the SP98 was sold for 1.4292 euros, posting an increase of 0.82 cents.

Hopes for a recovery in demand to come

Fuel prices at the pump vary depending on several parameters such as the price of a barrel of oil, the euro-dollar exchange rate, the level of stocks of petroleum products and demand, as well as taxes.

After a drop following the Covid-19 pandemic, oil prices have stabilized at modest levels.

From the beginning of November, successive announcements on vaccines against Covid-19 pushed investors to buy oil, betting on a recovery in demand to come, which somewhat pulled prices up.
