Are you tickling your lockdown locks yet? While visiting the hairdresser during shutdown is taboo, dog owners in NRW can bring their animals into the salon. But that is probably not a way out for humans.

According to a court order in North Rhine-Westphalia, dogs can continue to be groomed in dog salons despite corona shutdowns.

The current ban on hairdressing services in the state's Corona regulation only includes corresponding services to people, the Münster Administrative Court found in a decision that has now been announced on January 11th.

With its decision, which was not yet legally binding, the court granted an urgent application by a dog hairdresser from Emsdetten.

The Corona Protection Ordinance does not prohibit the applicant from exercising the professional activity.

Services and craft services where the minimum distance to the customer cannot be maintained are prohibited - in particular hairdressing services, facial treatments, cosmetics, nail salons, manicures, massage, tattooing and piercing.

The dog salons are therefore probably not a way out for people who are annoyed by frizzy hair in the neck or over the ears - after all, it is difficult to leave your own scalp in the salon.

If the dog is handed in, however, it looks different according to the administrative court, after which the prescribed minimum distance of one and a half meters between the groomer and the dog owner can be observed.

Accordingly, numerous other facilities in the craft and service industries could remain open, for example dry cleaners, laundrettes, car repair shops, bicycle repair shops and car rental companies, as the court pointed out.

As a dog hairdresser, the applicant offers such a service or handicraft with a minimum distance from the dog owner.

The court pointed out that even with the more open car and bicycle workshops, there is necessarily contact between the service provider and his customer - but "when the object to be repaired is handed over" the distance of one and a half meters to perform the service is not necessary.

The same applies to the handover of a dog for the purpose of hairdressing and clipping.

By the way, football professionals are possibly among those people who are particularly talented.

At least the hairdressing association at the German Football Association has expressed astonishment about the trimmed temples of some players, even though the salons are closed.

The association suspects illegal machinations.

After all, it is about »hairstyles that only professional hairdressers with professional equipment can cut«.
