RATP and SNCF Voyageurs announced on Tuesday that they had awarded the consortium of Canadian manufacturers Bombardier Transport and Spanish CAF the order for 146 new trains for RER B, a contract worth 2.56 billion euros.
The consortium was opposed to the French group Alstom - which is to absorb Bombardier Transport on January 29 -, which had taken legal action to challenge the procedure.
"
This major project, amounting to 2.56 billion euros, initiated and financed by Île-de-France-Mobilités, will [...] allow the acquisition of 146 trains called MI20 for line B of the RER
”, explain SNCF, RATP and Île-de-France Mobilités in a press release. "
It also responds to the desire to modernize this line, which is essential to the lives of millions of travelers to improve its reliability and punctuality
