The price of fuel is heading towards a new increase for this weekend.

Everything indicates that there will be a rise of 2%.

It is due to an update on the taxes paid on fuels, which will run from Friday.

The same would be transferred by 1.4% in the case of diesel and 2% for gasoline.

Fuels increased on Tuesday, January 5, due to a rise in the biofuel component, which they are forced to use.

As fuels already rose 3% on Tuesday, if these new taxes are added, they will

end up increasing between 4.5% and 5% accumulated in less than two weeks.

Everything indicates that the price of super naphtha fuel will exceed $ 70 in the case of YPF, which implies a rise of 32% compared to August.

In December, the government decided to increase the taxes paid on fuels.

A 5.4% increase was applied since December 15 and now there is another 7.7% from January 15.

This would be the seventh upload since August.

The tax increase from December 15 was passed on to suppliers, along with an update to business margins.

On that occasion, the increase was an average 4.5% and 5.5% in the city of Buenos Aires.

The rise of last week, according to the oil companies consulted, only responds to the higher price that oil companies have to pay for the biofuels they use.

The tax increase is not covered

, as clarified.

To avoid raising taxes, the Government should make some modification to the resolution already published

.

That possibility is not in the plans of the Executive Power, according to the Ministry of Energy.

Until now, every time they raised taxes, the oil companies ended up transferring it to prices.

The companies did not want to confirm this increase

, but between stations they took it almost for granted.

"There is no possibility of being able to avoid an increase in costs without transferring it."

defend.

"Prices are already delayed by more than 11%"

say the companies to justify that there is no margin not to make an increase.

If this increase is applied, the amounts of fuels will have grown by 10% between mid-December and mid-January.

Clarín

announced this increase in its January 6 edition.

Naphtha and diesel pay taxes on liquid fuels (ICL) and carbon dioxide (IDC).

The updating of these taxes is quarterly.

The amounts of the taxes (ICL and IDC) are reviewed each quarter, based on the variations of the INDEC Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Through a decree, due to the pandemic, the Executive Power postponed the application of the increases that it had to carry out for the first quarter and the second quarter.

He did it in October.

In October, the increase in these taxes took place.

The Executive Branch asked YPF not to transfer them immediately.

He did it at the beginning of the month.

But, in the middle of the month, when the increase took effect, the state oil company ended up increasing.

So did its competitors.
