Several airlines have reduced their connections with South Africa this week.
The country, which is grappling with a new variant of the coronavirus, faces a growing number of travel restrictions from the rest of the world.

Thus, the Emirates company announced to suspend its connections for 13 days for "
operational reasons
".
The Dutch company KLM, for its part, said it had to change its schedules after the Netherlands put in place travel restrictions to South Africa, forcing the company to cancel several flights.
Its German competitor Lufthansa for its part confirmed to AFP "to
adjust its flight program
" to take into account "
the reduction in demand
".
South Africa has recorded nearly 1.3 million cases and more than 35,500 deaths since the start of the pandemic, the heaviest toll on the continent.
Since the start of 2021, 240,000 contaminations and 6,000 deaths have been recorded.
