High tension on the electricity bill of the French.
A series of one-off factors will combine with strong trends in 2021 and 2022 to increase the bill well beyond the rise in other consumer goods.
“Consumers should expect several increases in their electricity bill over the next twelve months,”
warns Julien Teddé, managing director of the broker Opera Énergie.
First, an increase of 1.6% should occur in early February, proposed by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) to the government, which should follow its recommendation.
This represents on average an annual increase of 15 euros on the average bill of a household in France (around 4,500 kilowatt-hours of consumption per year).
"This figure covers major efforts on the part of the players and allows us to maintain our electricity system without social damage
," defends the president of the CRE, Jean-François Carenco.
