When it comes to a lot of money, and this is almost always the case with Oliver Samwer's business, the internet billionaire likes to strike a sharp tone.

So why should Markus Braun fare any differently at the hour of his greatest defeat?

On June 18, 2020, the then Wirecard boss received a robust email from his short-term Duz friend.

»Markus, pls confirm our joint understanding as below as we need from you or Marlies the confirmation NOW!

Oliver, ”Samwer wrote.

It was the unequivocal, if formulated in English, request to Braun to pay off his million dollar debts at one of Samwer's companies.

Namely: NOW!

It began in 2014 when Samwer's start-up company Rocket Internet and Wirecard grandly announced a strategic partnership, and it culminated in Samwer's involvement in Braun's private investment company in May 2020.
