With this contract, the French combat aircraft crosses the milestone of 100 international orders. Greece will receive its first planes in the summer of 2021.

In record time, four months after the purchase intention expressed by Greece, France signed a contract on Monday 25 January for the sale of 18 Rafale fighter jets.

The signing took place in Athens in the presence of a French delegation led by Florence Parly, the Minister of the Armed Forces, and in the presence of her Greek alter ego, Nikólaos Panagiotópoulos.

The French Minister was then received by the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriákos Mitsotákis, because this contract further tightens the intense political relationship and cooperation between the two European countries.

Four export clients

This order covers "

three contracts

", specifies the firm of Florence Parly.

The first concerns the delivery of 12 Rafale to the most recent standard (F3R) taken from the French Air Force fleet and 6 new combat aircraft.

This first contract was signed by Eric Trappier, CEO of Dassault Aviation *, the manufacturer of the aircraft.

The second concerns the arming of planes, in this case the Scalp, Mica, Exocet and Meteor long-range anti-aircraft missiles.

It was initialed by Eric Béranger, CEO of the European missile company MBDA.

And the third on services, support and training, including a flight simulator, provided by Dassault Aviation and the French Air Force.

With this contract, the Rafale passes the milestone of 100 international orders with four customers: Egypt (24 planes), Qatar (36 planes), India (36 planes) and finally Greece, the leading European country and a NATO member to buy the French combat aircraft.
