Will the French have to relearn how to count public money as soon as they recover?
"If 2021 will mark the end of the pandemic and the crisis as everyone hopes, it is also necessary that 2021 marks the end of 'whatever the cost'".
This is the bittersweet message launched by Olivier Dussopt, the Deputy Minister of Public Accounts, in an interview with
Les Échos
on January 21.
He comments on the results of the state budget in 2020, the deficit of which has almost doubled to reach 178 billion euros (93 billion in 2019), a historic record.

And as in Macronie we do not joke with the verticality of power, Olivier Dussopt took great care to refer to the Elysee:
"The President of the Republic was very clear on this subject: we have been able to face the crisis with massive aid measures, but these emergency measures are gradually phased out when the crisis is over ”.
During his New Year's Eve greetings, Emmanuel Macron had indeed recognized that public debt could not be a bottomless pit: "
This 'whatever the cost', I assume because it has saved lives and protect jobs ”
.
But, he continued,
“we will have to build responses together that will not make it a burden for future generations”.
And yet, this Tuesday morning on RTL, Élisabeth Borne, the Minister of Labor, was cautious.
