Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis announced on Friday it had signed an agreement to help produce Pfizer-BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine, in the face of the shortage.
The agreement, signed with the German group BioNTech, provides for Novartis to provide capacity to put the vaccine in vials at its site in Stein, near Basel, the Swiss group said in a statement, specifying that production should start in the second quarter, with first deliveries scheduled for the third quarter.
