During an expanded meeting chaired by Engineer Hussein Arnous, Prime Minister, the roles of the concerned authorities in the public and private sectors were defined to develop the export sector, expand Syrian exports to new markets and address the obstacles facing this sector.

The meeting, which was attended by a number of ministers, concerned parties and representatives of industrial, agricultural and commercial activities, focused on stimulating and organizing the export sector and providing the necessary infrastructure for it in light of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, supporting the production process in various sectors and developing its quality to suit foreign markets.

Eng. Arnous stressed the importance of reviving the export sector and providing the necessary support to it to bypass the repercussions of the economic blockade imposed on the Syrian people, address the damage to the local production structure and provide the necessary support for the return of the competitiveness of the Syrian product in foreign markets, stressing the importance of concerted efforts of all production authorities to increase Syrian exports according to Thoughtful foundations and expansion of its geographical base.

The Prime Minister pointed out the importance of developing integrated plans that define targeted export commodities, especially those with high added value, calling for workshops to unify visions related to the development of the export sector at the short, medium and long levels to ensure the organization of this sector.

The proposals dealt with continuing with the export support and development program, participating in foreign exhibitions, establishing a fund to guarantee Syrian exports, reconsidering the fees imposed on exports, creating a point for compiling goods in Aleppo Governorate, and securing scanners at all Syrian crossings to facilitate the examination of goods and emphasize the role of economic activities in strengthening commercial and economic relations and activating Agreements signed with other countries.

The demands of the representatives of the chambers of industry, agriculture and trade focused on activating the role of the Syrian embassies and economic attachés in promoting Syrian products, providing incentives to spread the culture of export crops, establishing a joint database for workers in the field of production, trade and export, opening regular lines for maritime transport and reconfiguring joint businessmen councils with friendly countries.
