First the platform had to go offline, now its boss is apparently also going: According to a media report, the CEO of the online network Parler has been fired.
The conservative US news broadcaster Fox News quoted from a memo by the previous Parler boss John Matze, in which he reported that he was expelled by the board of directors.
In the past few months he had "constant resistance" to his ideas about the Parler service and his "belief in freedom of expression," explained Matze accordingly.
Parler was launched in 2018 and is a home for right-wing extremists and other right-wing groups.
Since corporations like Facebook and Twitter have been actively combating false reports as well as racist and violence-glorifying content, Parler has gained increased popularity.
After the storming of the Capitol in Washington by militant supporters of the elected US President Donald Trump on January 6, the Internet giants Amazon, Apple and Google cut their ties to Parler.
