Illegal rentals: Paris hopes for 9 million fines

The town hall could receive 9 million euros for these illegal rentals of multi-owners who rent second homes full time. ”

The case dates back to 2015: seized by the town hall, the District Court fined a real estate company (Cali Apartments SCI) to 5,000 euros for the illegal rental of a studio.

On appeal, the fine goes to 15,000 euros.

But the SCI appealed in cassation, questioning the conformity of a very restrictive municipal regulation: changing the use of a dwelling requires buying at least equivalent retail space,
