As expected, the corona crisis and severance payments for cutting at least 15,000 jobs caused the aircraft manufacturer Airbus to lose billions in 2020.
Thanks to a profit in the fourth quarter, the bottom line was only a loss of 1.1 billion euros for the year as a whole, as the company announced on Thursday in Toulouse.
This means that Airbus performed better than analysts expected.
If you take out the interest, taxes and special effects - such as the severance payments - (adjusted EBIT), Airbus still comes to a profit of 1.7 billion euros for the year as a whole.
Although this was 75 percent lower than in the previous year, it was higher than expected by industry experts.
For the current year, CEO Guillaume Faury promised an adjusted EBIT of two billion euros if the global economy does not collapse again.
As for 2019, the shareholders should forego a dividend for 2020.
For 2021, Airbus boss Guillaume Faury is aiming for the delivery of as many aircraft as in the previous year.
The manufacturer handed over 566 machines to its customers.
