With a final spurt in 2020, Allianz exceeded the profit expectations of analysts and wants to build on the results before the corona pandemic in the new year.
The operating profit fell in the past year by nine percent to 10.8 billion euros, as the Munich insurance giant announced on Friday.
Analysts had only expected the alliance to be an average of 10.4 billion.
According to the insurer, the consequences of the pandemic have cost the insurer a total of 1.3 billion euros.
"Adjusted for the negative effects of Covid-19, our operating result was above the record levels of the previous year," said CFO Giulio Terzariol.
The shareholders should receive a stable dividend of 9.60 euros, although the net profit after minority interests shrank by 14 percent to 6.8 billion euros.
For the current year, CEO Oliver Bäte is forecasting an operating result of twelve billion euros - albeit with a fluctuation range of one billion up and down, which is twice as large as usual at Allianz.
