Covid-19: how will the vaccination in companies take place from February 25?

2021-02-22T16:22:27.166Z

Occupational physicians will be able to vaccinate at the end of the month employees aged 50 to 64 with co-morbidities and who so wish.

It is a new phase of vaccination against Covid-19 which is opening.

From February 25, people aged 50 to 64 with comorbidities will be able to have the AstraZeneca vaccine administered by their attending physician, but also by their occupational physician.

In accordance with an order of February 2, occupational physicians are in fact authorized to vaccinate against Covid-19.

A vaccination protocol was also sent to them by the General Directorate of Labor on February 16.

Thus, the occupational physicians who volunteer to vaccinate the employees targeted by this new phase must contact a community pharmacy to identify themselves and obtain doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The health protocol specifies, however, that physicians "

must choose one and only one affiliate pharmacy which will supply them

".

Only occupational physicians can take this step, and not company management.

The first deliveries of AstraZeneca doses are taking place this week, but are limited to a single vial, which represents 10 doses.

A second delivery will take place the week of March 1, and will be limited to "

two or three bottles maximum

".

"

The number of doses allocated does not depend on the size of the company,

”explains the cabinet of the Secretary of State in charge of pensions and occupational health to

Le Figaro

.

Subsequently, only employees aged 50 to 64 inclusive with co-morbidities, for example unstable diabetes or cardiovascular disease, who so wish may be vaccinated.

It is up to the employee to make the process with the occupational physician, by making an appointment.

The intervention remains subject to medical confidentiality and the confidentiality of vaccinations vis-à-vis the employer.

"

The company can only communicate to all staff that vaccination is possible for people aged 50 to 64 and suffering from co-morbidities, but it must not target the people concerned,

" recalls the cabinet of Laurent Pietraszewski.

"

There is a lot of internal communication work to be done

,

it will be necessary to be attentive to this confidentiality, we do not want to create a difference between the employees

", confirms Audrey Richard, president of the National Association of HRDs (ANDRH).

Audrey Richard also warns against "

the inequality between small and large companies, between those who can set up a vaccination campaign and those who cannot

".

The president of the ANDRH also notes that the "

shortage of occupational physicians will force some companies to redirect employees to their attending physician to be vaccinated

".

At the beginning of the month, the ANDRH questioned its 5,000 members on the possibility of vaccinating employees: "

There is total support from companies, they want to take part in the vaccination strategy

".

Things will be put in place very gradually,

” explains the government cabinet.

"

At this stage, we are still in discussions with companies to organize vaccination,

" indicates Florence Herry, nurse by training and co-founder of Libheros, a platform dedicated to the organization of home care which brings together 18,000 private nurses.

The co-founder also exchanges with different companies, "

from the CAC40 as well as from SMEs

", to set up a vaccination strategy against Covid-19, after having organized campaigns of tests or vaccination against influenza in 2020. The protocol transmitted by the General Directorate of Labor does not specify whether the vaccination in the workplace must be carried out by the doctor, or whether it must be present for each injection.

"

For companies which have an inter-company health service, this would mean that an occupational doctor should vaccinate all employees at all company sites in France, this is not possible

", according to Florence Herry , who hopes that the nurses will be able to come in reinforcement.

Vaccination will be a real organizational and logistical challenge

,” she concludes.
