Lars Feld: Departure with announcement

His departure has been in sight for a long time, now there is hardly a way around it: The economist Lars Feld will leave the council of experts to assess the overall economic development this Friday.
Because of a blockade by the SPD, Feld's contract extension requested by the Union did not come into the cabinet on Wednesday, reports the Handelsblatt, citing coalition circles.
The German press agency confirmed the report.
SPIEGEL had previously reported on the deadlocked negotiations in the grand coalition: the CDU and CSU wanted a third term in office for Feld.
The Social Democrats, on the other hand, want to get rid of the proven regulatory politician, who is oriented towards the principles of market and competition, and proposed their own candidates for the post, which the Union does not want to accept.
"Since the SPD is blocking an extension into a third term of office, as the CDU has proposed, I will be a free man again from then on," Feld told the Reuters news agency.
As a result, the council of experts will have to continue working with four instead of five economic methods from Friday.
It has apparently not yet been determined when there will be a replacement.
The personnel may only be clarified after the general election.
Veronika Grimm, Monika Schnitzer, Achim Truger and Volker Wieland also belong to the expert council for the assessment of macroeconomic development.
