Hyundai announced its intention to withdraw more than 81,000 of its electric vehicles put on the world market to subject these vehicles to maintenance after discovering faults in their batteries that cause a fire in them.
The agency clarified that Hyundai is supposed to replace the battery control systems in about 75,680 cars of the Kona type, in 5716 cars of the "Color" type, and in 305 electric buses as well, noting that the batteries of the mentioned cars were developed by a subsidiary of LG. / And that the experts decided to replace those batteries after discovering a defect in their fast charging systems.
The agency indicated that the value of Hyundai’s shares decreased by 3.9 percent after announcing its intention to withdraw the aforementioned cars. Shares of its subsidiary Kia also decreased by 4.7 percent.
Last October, Hyundai recalled about 77,000 Kona electric cars for maintenance as well, after discovering errors in the protection system software in those vehicles and after it had recorded 14 cases of burning in vehicles caused by batteries.
