The head of the German company BMW Business Council, Manfred Schoch, warned of the loss of many jobs in the company due to the new European standards for gas emissions, "Euro 7".
The German magazine Der Spiegel quoted Schwach as saying at a forum at the Mobil Automobile Club in Munich, Germany, that “the new standards are a de facto ban at the European Union level on petrol and diesel cars from 2025,” adding, “We will suffer from unemployment as we have never seen it before.”
In turn, the head of the automobile industry association Hildegard Muller rejected the European Union's proposals as "unrealistic" and said, "Nobody can buy a new electric car immediately and there is no charging infrastructure."
The Euro 7 standards will reduce the maximum permissible emissions and are expected to go into effect in 2025.
