The value of the cars sold by the General Organization for Foreign Trade at auction last December reached 27 billion Syrian pounds.
The Foundation had announced its offer of about 500 cars of various brands and types, including tourist, field, microbuses and trucks, as well as various other vehicles for sale at auction.
Director of the General Organization for Foreign Trade, Shady Jawhara, confirmed to the representative of SANA that the auction included a display of 499 cars, 90 percent of which were sold in the three-week auction and announced in the media, with the aim of achieving the largest possible participation and transparency in the show.
The proceeds of selling cars belong to the state treasury, as Jawhara explains, while the corporation operates in this field as a commercial activity in terms of advertising and preserving cars, and thus takes a commission in exchange for a certain rent from conducting this auction, indicating that the auction achieves the fair value of the cars.
Jawhara pointed out that several criteria and evaluations are taken to determine the price value of cars, as their technical condition is evaluated and a comparison is made between them and cars that are similar to them in terms of characteristics and price in the market by specialized technical committees that set the specified value in secret, indicating that cars are not equal in the auction with specifications. The technical itself or the price value, as this is determined according to the requirements of Law 51 of 2004. There are cars that fail due to the lack of a bid on them, and there are cars whose value does not reach the specified value from the institution, including those whose price is similar to or higher than the price of the institution, and the sale process is completed and this achieves the concept of fair value Of the mechanism.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian Foundation for Foreign Trade announced in 2019 the sale of 940 cars, a variety of tourism, field, buses, microbuses, trucks and vehicles, with a value of 5 billion pounds.
