March will begin with increases in

prepaid, subways, schools, taxis, VTV, gasoline, school supplies, school fees, clothing, footwear and leather goods

.

All these increases, without a doubt, will add pressure to inflation beyond the Government's attempts to contain the situation, advancing in a price and salary agreement.

In the first months of the year, increases were announced for this time of year in: 3.5% in prepaid, between 15% and 20% in private schools (for those that receive state aid) and 7.5% increased telephony cell phone in February and will add 2.5% by March.

In relation to the previous month, the private consultants estimated an inflation located in a range of between 3.1% and 3.5%, lower than the results of December and January.

The Ministry of Economy

aims to end the year with a Consumer Price Index lower than 31%

, but if in February the cost of living shows what analysts expected, in the remaining ten months of the year the monthly average

should not exceed 2% to reach the goal.

Hence,

the Government seeks a price and wage agreement

to try to contain the rise in prices, especially in food, which has a direct impact on the measurement of poverty and indigence.

According to a report by the consulting firm LCG, food registered an increase of 4.1% in February and with that level the statistical drag for March is above 1%.

In this context, the goal of 29% seems even more difficult to achieve,

if the increases registered in February and those that are forecast for March are taken into account.

Among the increases that are launched this month are those ruled by the City Government: subway, premetro, taxis and parking.

SUBTE AND PREMETRO

As scheduled, this Monday, the ticket increases, which will go from $ 21 to $ 25.50.

Then between April and May it will rise again by $ 5, and will be at $ 30,

thus accumulating an increase of 42.8%

.

The premetro will increase from $ 7.50 to $ 10.70, which represents an advance of 42.7%, and the progressive discounts for frequent travelers will be maintained.

Thus, in the first tranche of the increase, it will be necessary to pay $ 25.50 from the 1st to the 20th trip;

$ 20.40 from the 21st to the 30th;

$ 17.85 from 31st to 40%, and $ 15.30 from trip number 40. In the last leg of the increase, these progressive rates will be $ 30, $ 24, $ 21 and $ 18, respectively.

TAXIS

The taxis increase was the first in a series of fare increases in the City.

Since last Saturday, part of the 44% increase has been implemented, which will be done in two sections.

Thus, the day token jumped from $ 5.95 to $ 7.10, with a flag drop to $ 71.

The night token amounted to $ 8.50.

The second increase will be effective on April 24, when the token is $ 8.50 per token and the flag drop will rise to $ 85.

At night, the token will cost $ 10.20.

The last increase in taxis had been in February 2020

.

CNG, which accounts for 41% of the cost of taxi drivers, has risen 32% from that month until now, according to official figures.

VTV

The Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) will increase by 45%, so that cars will pay $ 2,665 instead of the current $ 1,838.

Motorcycles, meanwhile, will pay $ 1,002 instead of $ 691.

PARKING METER

Metered parking will go up 100%.

In this way, it will jump from $ 15 to $ 30, an amount that has not been adjusted for a year and a half.

Due to the pandemic, the parking lot continues to operate as if it were a Sunday.

Therefore, the new rate will take effect as soon as the metered parking is in effect.

But the March increases don't end there.

Due to seasonality,

the adjustments in private school enrollment and fees will also arrive in March

.

As reported by the Association of Argentine Private Educational Entities (ADEEPRA), increases of 15% have already been authorized in the province of Buenos Aires and 25% in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

The fees for

prepaid medicine will

also rise

: it will register an increase of 3.5%

.

In addition, as on Sunday the specific taxes on gasoline and diesel were updated again, as well as the value of biofuels, an impact on the pumps is expected in the coming hours.

According to market specialists, these could impact 2.6% on the liter of naphtha and 2.1% on that of diesel over the reference price of CABA.

Other increases that are discounted in the third month of the year, due to seasonality:

clothing, footwear and leather goods.

As for the supplies, as reported by the consulting firm Focus Market,

 the 23-item school basket

started in February with an average adjustment that exceeds 45%, while they are expected to continue rising for March, the month back to school.

To contain the rise in prices of school products, the Ministry of Domestic Trade will present the program "Back to School with Careful Prices"

, which will be in effect until March 31, with an average increase of 21%.

For mid-March, increases in the price, transportation and distribution of gas are also expected, since the public hearings where these items will be analyzed are announced for mid-March.

A recomposition is estimated that would imply

an increase of between 7% and 9% in the invoice that users receive.

It is worth remembering that electricity and gas have frozen their rates for almost two years.

As it transpired from the sector.
