Corona lockdown easing: Which shops are allowed to reopen

2021-03-01T11:43:43.020Z

After weeks of downtime, individual businesses are allowed to reopen - not just the hairdressers. The individual federal states regulate the relaxation of the lockdown very differently. An overview.

The desire for more normality and openings in times of the corona pandemic is growing.

From this Monday the hairdressers are allowed to reopen nationwide - but in many places it does not stay that way.

In some federal states, nurseries are also opening their doors again, in others they have long been open.

An overview of what happens except at the hairdressers:

Hamburg:

The Hanseatic city is the only country in which, apart from the opening of hairdressers, there is no further relaxation for the time being.

In this first step, too, the red-green Senate only took part in order to maintain nationwide uniformity.

Since the weekend there has even been a stricter mask requirement for heavily visited places such as Jungfernstieg.

Lower Saxony, Bremen, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania:

Here too, apart from the hairdressers, little is new - because some things have long been open.

Flower shops are already selling their goods there again.

Flowers that have been ordered can be picked up in Berlin.

Garden centers are also already open in Lower Saxony and Bremen and are now also opening in the regions of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with a low level of infection - but not in Berlin.

In the capital, the bookstores did not go through the second lockdown from the start.

As in Lower Saxony, bike shops are also open there, but only for repairs in Berlin.

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, driving schools are also already open for students who need a driver's license for vocational training.

In addition, beauticians, podiatrists and nail salons are again allowed to receive customers there in regions with a seven-day incidence of 35 and below.

Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Thuringia:

In Hesse, apart from hairdressers, only businesses for medically and hygienically necessary treatments are allowed to open, such as foot care and nail salons.

In the other three countries, garden centers can again offer their goods, in Baden-Württemberg also flower shops and hardware stores if they only sell plants and garden supplies there.

In Thuringia, flower shops are allowed to reopen, as is the case in Brandenburg if more than 50 percent of the sales area is outdoors.

Hardware stores are allowed to open garden departments to all customers if the sales area is mainly outdoors.

It cannot be said that only countries with a high incidence are so cautious: The group includes both the country with the highest rate of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week (Thuringia: 126.5; as of Sunday) as well as the country with the currently second lowest rate (Baden- Württemberg: 50).

Saxony:

The former high incidence state allows garden markets and flower shops, but opens not only pedicure studios but also driving schools for those who need the "certificate" for work.

Music schools may individually teach students who are about to take an important exam or who are starting a course of study.

Bavaria, Saxony-Anhalt:

Gardeners and hardware stores are allowed to open their doors again here, and flower shops in Bavaria too.

In both countries you can have your feet professionally cared for again.

In Saxony-Anhalt, driving schools can also start operating again, but only in small groups of up to five people, including driving instructors;

flight schools are also allowed to start again.

Schleswig-Holstein, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland:

The impatient can look forward to this - because apart from hairdressers, the closing time ends at a number of other providers and facilities.

Garden markets are reopening in all four countries, but only outside in Rhineland-Palatinate;

In North Rhine-Westphalia only vegetables and seeds such as seeds, onions, seed potatoes and necessary accessories may be sold.

In Schleswig-Holstein and Rhineland-Palatinate, florists can sell flowers again; in North Rhine-Westphalia the sale of cut flowers and potted plants was already allowed.

The government in Düsseldorf, like its colleagues in Mainz, allows music schools, the former only for elementary school students, the latter not for singing and wind instruments.

Rhineland-Palatinate also opens driving schools and, like Saarland, allows appointment shopping in retail: Ordered goods can then no longer only be picked up, but also tried on - but only at the agreed time and for one item at a time.

The zoos are also reopening in Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein.

And in North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein, individual sports may again be practiced to a limited extent outside of sports facilities.
