Shortly before his 77th birthday, it's over: Erich Sixt wants to leave the board of the car rental company Sixt on June 16.
As the company announced, the supervisory board has appointed Sixt's sons Alexander and Konstantin as joint chairmen of the board from June 17.
The 76-year-old then wanted to take over the chairmanship of the supervisory board, it said.
The previous chairman of the supervisory board, TUI boss Friedrich Joussen, will leave the supervisory board at the end of this year's general meeting.
Erich Sixt had run the family business since 1969 and is a major shareholder himself.
The then 25-year-old had relieved his father, who was sick, from running the taxi company at the time with 200 rental cars in Munich and finally turned the company into a group with a turnover of almost three billion euros.
Sixt competes with the French competitor Europcar for market dominance in Europe.
Refusal to join VW
Lockdowns and travel restrictions in the Corona crisis caused sales to collapse last year, however - Erich Sixt announced the first annual loss in the company's history in November.
He wants to present the balance sheet figures on Tuesday.
In response to speculations about VW joining the company, the company patriarch made it clear: “The company is my life.
I'd never sell that. ”He always wanted his family to be in control of the business.
Sons are already board members
With the sons Alexander and Konstantin, the fourth generation of the Sixt family takes over the management of the company.
You studied business administration in London and Paris and have been on the board since 2015.
You are responsible for the group strategy and for sales and are driving the consolidation and digital networking of classic car rental, car sharing and car subscriptions.
