CPME President François Asselin expressed concern on Tuesday about the consequences for small businesses of possible weekend lockdowns in new territories, calling on the government to put in place measures to
“save”
business leaders .

“It's very complicated and it is already today. If you further tighten the containment measures for some, for whom it is complicated today, it will become impossible, ”
he said on RTL.
"The more we tighten the sanitary measures, the more you will see the loss experience of companies soar,"
he added.
The executive could announce new restrictive measures on Thursday, while 20 departments have been placed under
"enhanced surveillance"
due to greater circulation of Covid-19.
These territories may be the subject of local containment measures from the weekend of March 6 if the situation continues to deteriorate, after
"consultations with elected officials"
, warned Prime Minister Jean Castex.
CPME calls for "immediate action"
"We must learn to live with the virus (...) because if we stop living, there, for sure, we will all go through it"
, argued François Asselin, referring to the number of companies already threatened by the health and economic crisis.
He therefore pleaded for the government to
"immediately
put
in place measures"
to
"save individual business leaders"
, whose personal situation can seriously deteriorate in the event of their company going bankrupt.
In a press release, the CPME Ile-de-France, one of the regions likely to be affected by confinement on weekends, asks that such confinement be
"the ultimate health resort"
and that
"its modalities be strictly necessary, appropriate and proportionate ”
so that it
“ reduces economic activity as little as possible ”
.
It also calls for
"targeted financial aid"
, and in particular a reduction from 50 to 30% of the rate of loss of turnover giving entitlement to the solidarity fund.
