A 19-year-old followed in his mother's footsteps in the United States and opened his own shoe store.

Her offspring's business now has serious consequences for Ann Hebert, the previous Vice President and North America boss of the sporting goods manufacturer Nike.

The Bloomberg news agency had reported how her son was selling and selling sneakers online on a large scale.

He is also said to have used a credit card in his mother's name.

Shortly after the report came out, Nike announced that Heber had resigned with immediate effect.

The brief statement comes - after more than 25 years in the company - without thanks.

It has been announced that a new head of the North American business will be named soon.

Little is known about the background to the resignation.

According to reports, the setback was preceded by a breach of trust.

It is not known whether Hebert might have told him too much about her work or whether her son used the relationships to get hold of extremely rare sneakers, for example.

According to Bloomberg, the teenager's business is said to have been at least profitable, with revenues of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

So he had started selling sneakers in high school.
