After the 4% rise in inflation in January, the consulting firms that closely monitor prices estimate that in February the index remained high and place it at similar values to the previous month, reflecting a strong advance in wholesale prices, of 5.6% in January.

Thus, according to the consulting firm Focus Market, which, via a barcode reader, shows the values of 682 products of different brands and presentations,
9 of the 10 categories that increased the most were food.
In the top 10 of the product categories that increased the most between January and February are sliced bread, which increased by 14%;
oil, up 13.5%, and nuggets, which advanced 10.7%.
Snacks (10.3%), hamburgers (9.6%) and empanada tapas (9.3%) complete the first six positions.
Only in the seventh does a category of cleaning and toilet appear
: hair products rose 8%.
And then food continues, with rice (7.5%), milk cream (6.9%) and leavening (6.5%).

As for the products that increased the most in February but compared to the same month of 2020, those that lead the list are snacks, with
an impressive jump of 94.1%,
followed by oil (81.3%), empanada tapas (66.4%), canned fish (65.8%), hamburgers (60.9%), preserves (53.5%), chocolates (53.1%) and sausages (52.7%).
Only in ninth place is a product that is not part of the food basket:
cigarettes, with an increase of 52.5%

And finally, the tea increased 52%.
Other products that advanced strongly in the year were
eggs and (47%) and yerba (43%).
According to the report, the surprise of the month is the "drop in the weighted average price of some categories", such as puree, which fell 3.3%.
Although chocolates are growing strongly compared to 2020, in February they fell 2.1% compared to January.
The price of toilet paper also fell by 2.1%;
cereals, 1.7%;
flour, 1.6%;
the broths, 1.3% and the butter, 0.1%.
Although compared to January the highest increases touched 14% in February, there were many products that were above the 4% that is estimated to be the average inflation for the month.

deodorants and toilet soaps
