Thales is stepping up to be at the forefront of the quantum revolution

INFO LE FIGARO - The defense group, which has withstood the Covid-19 crisis well, is ready for targeted acquisitions in order to be among the first to master these technologies which will prevail over the next five years.

At the end of a year turned upside down by the Covid-19 crisis, "

Thales has demonstrated its resilience both in human and economic terms,

" says Patrice Caine, CEO of the defense and high technology group, in a interview at

Le Figaro

The 2020 results published this Thursday morning bear witness to this.

Thales blamed the crisis but limited its impact while retaining its critical skills.

Its turnover fell "only" by 10%, to 16.9 billion euros, and its profitability, although deteriorated, reached a correct level, at 8% of sales, against 10.9% in 2019. The group remained in the green with a net profit of 937 million, down 33%.

We are clearly above market expectations in terms of cash generation at more than one billion euros, while our order intake, maintained at a high level (18.5 billion euros), testify the confidence of our customers and give visibility to our activity and our employees
