More than 5 million advertisements for the online sale of counterfeit products were withdrawn by manufacturers in December and January, according to a survey of its members of the Unifab association, which brings together companies and professional federations committed to the fight against counterfeiting.

Alarming results
According to a statement released on Monday, Unifab, which represents 200 companies, totaled more than 5.1 million ads withdrawn by a sample of 20 of them in different sectors (leather goods, ready-to-wear, cosmetics , pharmacy, sporting goods, automotive equipment).

The alarming results of these statistics (...) suggest a much greater reality, and much darker, if all the data had been collected from the 200 companies that make up Unifab
", commented the association .
Internet, the "
eldorado of counterfeiters

Unifab reiterates its demand for "
increased accountability of online sales platforms and social networks
", in the wake of a report presented in December by deputies Christophe Blanchet and Pierre-Yves Bournazel.

Now become the leading supplier of fake products, the internet (...) has become the El Dorado for counterfeiters,
" according to Unifab.
Its president Christian Peugeot called for "
a collective awareness, and mainly political decision-makers
".
