Until now, Deutsche Bahn has served Frankfurt airport to or from seventeen German cities with 134 daily connections by ICE, the German high-speed train.

From July, five new cities (Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Bremen and Münster) will also be connected by Lufthansa Express Rail.

With this joint initiative, we are strengthening the mobility offer in Germany, and therefore we are supporting the local economy.

By intelligently linking rail and air transport, we offer our customers a fluid and convenient network for the benefit of the environment

", Summarized Harry Hohmeister, of the management of Lufthansa.

From December, stops will be removed between Munich and Cologne to shorten the journey time to less than four hours.

From and to Munich and Nuremberg, trains will run between the airport twice a day.

When arriving at the airport, passengers will have quick access to security;

on landing, their luggage will be given priority.

In France too, SNCF and Air France will step up their Train + Air service (formerly TGV Air) to support the end of domestic airlines, particularly between Orly, Nantes, Lyon and Bordeaux.

The government has in fact included in the climate bill the ban on domestic flights when an alternative by train exists in less than 2 hours and 30 minutes.
