Nearly 8 billion euros in social charges were also canceled in 2020 alone, Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Tuesday.

The government has granted nearly 50 billion tax and social security deferrals to companies to get through the Covid-19 crisis, as well as nearly 8 billion social security tax exemptions, Prime Minister Jean Castex said in the Senate on Wednesday.

In terms of taxation, nearly 25 billion euros have not been taken from companies, whether it is a matter of postponements or accelerated repayments of debts,

” said the head of government.

The only postponements of tax deadlines represent around 3.4 billion euros, according to the dashboard posted online and regularly updated by the Ministry of the Economy.

A provision of the third amending finance law adopted last summer also enabled companies to allocate a deficit recorded in 2020 more quickly to the profit made in 2019 and as such obtain a tax refund (mechanism known as “carry-back”).

At the social level, "

we are at nearly 12 billion euros which were reported by the Urssaf and which concerned nearly 900,000 companies, and I add 13 billion euros for the self-employed

", affirmed the Prime Minister.

In addition, “

nearly 8 billion euros in social charges were canceled in 2020 alone

,” added the Prime Minister.

"

The repayments of this tax and social debt will of course be adapted to the situation of each company

", assured the head of government, questioned on this point by the centrist Senator Hervé Marseille.

"

We have set up long settlement plans of up to three years,

" he said.
