Dudi Reznik, Leumi Capital Markets' interest rate strategist, responds today to the publication of the US consumer price index and its potential impact on the markets:
"The US consumer price index for February rose 0.4 percent as expected. The core index rose by only 0.1 percent compared to expected 0.2 percent. The U.S. inflation environment continues to be moderate at 1.7 percent in the general index and 1.3 percent in the core index. "

Regarding the possible effect of the index on the capital market, Resnik added: The index significantly reduces the fear of an inflationary outbreak, a fear that has recently clouded stock and bond markets. After the index was published, the contracts passed the stock indices up to half a percent. The relatively low actually lowers the fear of the Fed's minute actions and certainly removes the fear of raising interest rates in the foreseeable future. "
