Usually profitable, RATP fell into the red in 2020, with an unprecedented net loss of 134 million euros, mainly attributable to the activities of its subsidiaries outside its historic monopoly in Ile-de-France.
The group had generated a net profit of 131 million euros in 2019, despite the strike against the pension reform in December.

The results of the RATP are very contrasted, the public industrial and commercial establishment (Epic, with the traditional transport activities in Ile-de-France) having lost only 21 million euros, thanks to the contract which binds the Régie à Île-de-France Mobilités.
The loss would have been more than 730 million without compensation from the regional authority, CEO Catherine Guillouard told reporters.
At the same time, the net loss of subsidiaries reached 113 million euros, due to difficulties due to Covid-19 in certain markets, including “
sightseeing
” (tourist buses).

These, totaling 300 million euros, "
helped cushion part of the shock,

Epic side, the 200 million savings "
allowed us to absorb all the additional costs of the health crisis
", including the doubling of the budget devoted to cleanliness, noted the leader.
The group's turnover is down 3.2%, to 5.523 billion euros, 78% of which was made by Epic.
The turnover of Epic is down only 1% to 4.311 billion euros, a performance while attendance fell by 43%.
As for the subsidiaries, their contribution to turnover fell by 10.2% to 1.212 billion euros.
Outside the capital region, the main RATP Dev subsidiary suffered more from the pandemic than the parent company, even though its commercial dynamic remained positive with the entry into force of new contracts.
