The unions are worried that this plan will reduce the capacity of the institution to "meet the needs of a public which is suffering the full brunt of the effects of the crisis"

The Banque de France has planned to cut 600 jobs by 2024, the unions announced on Friday, denouncing "

a 'dogmatic' management of the workforce, without hindsight on the merits of the cuts or their consequences

".

The monetary institution had already presented on January 20 a plan to close 14 sorting boxes out of 37, resulting in the loss of 131 jobs, without forced departure, out of the 9,535 full-time equivalent positions (FTE) that the Banque de France had at the end of 2020.

"This plan comes at a time when the institution is under unprecedented demand by the severity of the crisis and the rise in unemployment,"

denounced the inter-union composed of FO, CFE-CGC, CGT and SNA in a communicated.

“The BdF is facing an unprecedented increase in its activities due to the severity of the crisis,”

she continues, recalling that the Bank's staff has been halved in 20 years.

"We have very strong requests with credit mediation cases multiplied by ten,"

said Fabienne Rouchy, CGT union representative.

"Regarding the over-indebtedness files, we do not have a huge peak for the moment but we see the wave arriving for the fall," she

adds.

Not to mention the support of companies, their listing,

"to prevent them from finding themselves without a line of credit

.

"

"This is really not the time to cut jobs because the Banque de France has never been so in demand,"

insisted Fabienne Rouchy.

Retirement

According to the union representative, job cuts should be covered by retirements, allowing management to avoid forced departures.

With this plan, the unions

"fear that the institution no longer has the capacity to meet the needs of a public which is suffering the full brunt of the effects of the crisis,"

they say.

The CSE should deliver its opinion on this “2024 strategy” on April 15.

The Banque de France has confirmed the presentation of a plan to agents scheduled for Tuesday, without wanting to comment on the substance.
