Founded in the 1930s, the American lighter brand ZIPPO has become one of the largest and most recognizable symbols in the world.

The brand has a glorious history intertwined with the history of the American people, limited editions, collectors' clubs and guest appearances in plays and TV shows from the 1930s to the present day.

The Lighter has also starred in over 2,000 films, including: Deadly Mission 2 and Dead to Live.

The famous sound produced by the lighting and closing of the lighter, has become a world-famous mark of identification.

The ZIPPO timeline begins in the early 1930s, at the Bradford Country Club in Pennsylvania.

George J. Blissdale watched a friend struggle with a clumsy Austrian lighter in an attempt to light a cigarette.

He thought to himself that the lighter worked well, but something in its appearance and design would not have appeared to him since the lighter required the use of both hands for lighting, and its thin metal surface became easily sunken.

At the end of 1932 Blissdale decided to restore the Austrian lighter, he made a small rectangular cell out of metal and attached a lid to it with a hinge, he kept the chimney design that protected the flame.

The result was a lighter that was easily turned on with one hand.

Blissdale gave it the name "Zippo" simply because he liked the sound of the word ZIPPER (zipper), and he created variations on the word until he lit up the name "Zippo", which he thought had a "modern" sound.

This year production was halted to the domestic market and devoted entirely to the U.S. military. The fact that millions of U.S. military personnel carried the lighter to battle was a significant catalyst for making Zippo an American symbol in the world. In August 1950, Zippo registered its second patent. It was stamped on the lighters stamp and date when the original purpose was - quality control, later the codes became a valuable tool for collectors.

In 1956 the narrow lighter was launched, when the target audience was women. A tribute that was enacted and even mentioned as "Zippo Moments" (Zippo Moments).
