“Many maritime trades are in tension,”

assured Frédéric Moncany de Saint-Aignan, president of the French Maritime Cluster (CMF), which represents some 430 stakeholders in the sea, during a videoconference, estimating that for the sector this Maritime Employment Week was

"capital"

.

"The maritime economy is suffering from the Covid context, but at the same time a certain number of sectors are resisting well and are in tension of jobs"

, added Frédéric Moncany from Saint-Aignan.

Among the sectors which are encountering difficulties in hiring, that of logistics, support for maritime affairs, shipbuilding and pleasure craft.

"France is developing its maritime activity in a large number of areas and wants to hold its place in many sectors of the maritime economy"

, stressed for his part the Secretary General of the Sea, Denis Robin, regretting, however, that

"many sectors "

Are

" already under strain on their human resources "

.

"To embody this maritime future for France, we need today to mobilize the interest of young people, future employees of these sectors,"

he added.

123,000 new hires in 2020

In 2020, nearly 123,000 hires, excluding tourism, took place in the maritime and river sector, while more than 207,000 job offers were published, indicates Pôle Emploi in a press release.

During this maritime week, more than 200 events and activities will be organized in digital and physical form by Pôle Emploi agencies or public establishments and companies.

Visits to companies or construction sites, job dating or even information workshops will be organized in particular.

In parallel with these events, virtual conferences and round tables with free access will be offered.
