After a year of nightmare, the Covid-19 having left its 18 liners docked, MSC Cruises sees the end of the tunnel.
Since January, only one boat has been sailing in the Mediterranean, between Italy and Malta.
In May, it is expected to be joined by two more in Europe, hoping for a ramp-up this summer.
“It takes 60 to 90 days to prepare a boat to sail,”
says Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of the Italian-Swiss cruise line.
The acceleration of vaccination makes me optimistic.
The United States expects to achieve collective immunity on July 4.
People are eager to travel.
Our health protocols on board have everything to reassure them. ”
For now, the only MSC boat at sea is on average 50% occupied.
The fleet will restart gradually from this summer.
All services are still offered (restaurants, shows, swimming pools, etc.), with the exception of buffets.
