The "Ever Given" is free again.
Rescue teams brought the approximately 224,000 ton and 400 meter long freighter of the shipping company "Evergreen" back into floating condition on Monday, the ship was able to resume its voyage and did not have to be partially unloaded.
That should have happened if the rescue team hadn't been able to get the ship back on the road by Monday.
Apparently the full moon helped.
After excavators had removed soil under the ship's bow in the past few days, the moon constellation caused a spring tide on Monday night, which raised the water level by an additional 50 centimeters.
Apparently enough to use a number of tugs to haul the Ever Given off the sandbar on which it was stuck.
The "Ever Given" ran aground in the Suez Canal in Egypt last week, presumably due to strong winds, and has since blocked the most important sea trade route between Europe and Asia.
More than 360 ships are still waiting to pass through, and the traffic jam will probably take several days to clear.
Many shipping companies had already sent their ships on the alternative route around Africa, a detour of several thousand kilometers.
