The Minister of the Economy is once again preparing the spirits for economic growth for 2021 below what the government has anticipated so far.
The new health restrictions imposed in France will have an economic impact on growth, the Minister of the Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire suggested on Friday morning.
“
These measures will have an impact on economic growth in 2021. We are currently evaluating it.
There will be a new assessment in the coming days,
”Bruno Le Maire told CNews.
Without giving any figures yet, he conceded that the 5.8% GDP growth forecast anticipated so far could be revised downwards.
"
It is obvious that when you close 150,000 businesses, that you have a whole part of the tourist activity which cannot turn, that you have closed schools, that will have an impact
", explained Bruno Le Maire.
In an attempt to stem the "
third wave
" of the epidemic, Emmanuel Macron indeed announced on Wednesday evening new restrictions that apply to the entire metropolitan territory.
Schools, in particular, will close for three weeks.
