This new application is part of the strengthening of BlaBlaCar's development strategy, in parallel with its recent fundraising of 115 million dollars.

The French carpooling giant announced this Monday, April 26, to launch its new BlaBlaCar Daily application, dedicated to daily journeys.

Formerly BlaBlaLines, this new identity has three new objectives: "

strengthen our link with BlaBlaCar, better describe our app 'and its use and be better understood by everyone, everywhere in the world!"

A change of name but also of ambitions, this change is being made with the aim of reaching 10 million long-term registrants and counting 300,000 monthly journeys from next September.

This new application also comes with new features. It will now be possible to geolocate drivers and passengers directly on a map but also to automatically identify their favorite carpoolers in order to organize trips with them.

BlaBlaCar Daily aims to accelerate its development in “

journeys

while turning to short-distance daily trips, such as going to a friend's house or going to his sports training.

The average travel distance is 30km, and 20km in Île-de-France.

Aid put in place for carpooling

To reach their goal of 300,000 monthly trips in September, the company hopes for an improvement in the health situation. "

While the health context will clear up in the coming months, all the lights are green to make carpooling a daily reflex for millions of French people,"

said Adrien Tahon. Note that the French leader in carpooling has seen its attendance drop by only 30% on average during the pandemic, against more than 60% for the train and the plane.

To ensure good development, BlaBlaCar Daily is also counting on its openness to communities and businesses by offering them its support, in particular thanks to the recent Mobility Orientation Law.

"

Companies can now cover their employees' carpool travel costs up to € 500 per year thanks to the development of the Sustainable Mobility Package

", details the press release.

BlaBlaCar Daily has already signed partnerships with Engie or EDF to help them increase the share of carpoolers among their employees, and has started advanced discussions with around thirty other large groups and companies.
