Last sprint for Hercules. The government and the European Commission are converging on a few crucial points for the outcome of discussions on the reorganization of EDF - a file called Hercules by management.
"The two parties agree on the need to go quickly,"
explains a source familiar with the matter from the outset. The Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, discussed the subject with the Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager, Monday, April 19. His chief of staff was in Brussels in the middle of last week. The objective of the French government is to put in place the reform before the presidential election of May 2022.
Two major scenarios are being studied for setting this major reform to music.
The first consists of nationalizing the parent company EDF SA (which will bring together hydraulics, RTE and nuclear power), and concomitantly privatizing a “green” subsidiary (renewable energies, commerce and Enedis), with an exchange of the group's shares.
