The US pharmaceutical company Pfizer is significantly increasing its targets for 2021 after a surprisingly strong start to the year.
In the first quarter, the Americans benefited greatly from their corona vaccine, which was marketed together with the German company Biontech.
The vaccine called Comirnaty brought in Pfizer alone $ 3.5 billion, as the company announced.
In addition, there were other profits, for example with cancer preparations.
Group-wide sales in the reporting period rose by 45 percent year-on-year to just under $ 14.6 billion, and total profit climbed to just under $ 4.9 billion.
The management around CEO Albert Bourla now expects an increase in sales to 70.5 to 72.5 billion dollars for the full year due to the revised expectations for Comirnaty.
Previously, a maximum of $ 61.4 billion was still on the plan.
The shares rose in the pre-market US trade by 1.8 percent.
