INDEC will release the inflation index on Thursday next week, but the consulting firms have already closed their April numbers.

As Clarín published, they expect it to be between 3.5% and 4%, down from 4.8% in March.

As has been happening in the latest measurements,

food drives the rises and exceeds average inflation.

For EcoGo, INDEC inform 3.7%, but the measuring consultant (for differences in the allocation of increases in schools)

reaches 4.3%

.

In March it had been the other way around: INDEC reported more than the private ones calculated (4.8% vs 4% on average).

According to EcoGo,

food and beverages

consumed within the home

increased 5% last month

, which makes an increase that exceeds 50% in the year:

51.1%

.

So far this year, they have accumulated 18.7%.

Food and beverages outside the home rose 6.1% in April

for EcoGo and in the last 12 months they add up to 64.3%, while between January and April they add up to 21.7%.

Although it is what affects inflation the most (and also what affects families the most), food is not the one that increased the most.

The first place in increases is for clothing.

In April it rose 9.6%, which marks a cumulative 19.4% in 2021 and 58.6% when compared to April last year.

based on EcoGo numbers.

For Ecolatina, clothing was also

"red hot"

, with a

rise of 7.2% in April,

while food increased 4.1%, below the inflation of 4.4% and accumulated 16% in what that goes of the year.

With the increases in April, the first four-month period would close with an increase of more than 16%, if it is considered that the first quarter already accumulates a rise of 12.9%, that is, it almost doubles the same period accumulated last year (7, 7%) before the outbreak of the pandemic.

In addition to food and clothing, in April there were increases authorized by the Government to

prepaid payments of 4.5%

and the second tranche of the staggered increase in

gasoline (15%)

, as well as increases in rents and transport.

For this reason, according to EcoGo, in April the housing sector increased 2.3%;

household equipment, 3.5%;

Health, 2.9%;

Transport and communication, 4.4%;

Recreation 2.7% and Education 8.5%.
