Damascus-Sana
Commercial activities in Damascus are waiting for the date of the presidential elections scheduled for the twenty-sixth of this month with optimism, given that their success will reflect positively on the recovery of the economic situation in Syria. The economic movement and investment attraction are directly linked to the continuation and stability of political life.
Mahmoud Abu al-Ayyal, owner of a clothing store in the Marjeh market in Damascus, believed that the success of the presidential elections will contribute to revitalizing the trade and investment movement and will stimulate exporters and importers to continue supporting the economy, indicating that he will participate in the elections to play his role as a citizen who wants to see his country returned to its former growth and prosperity.
In turn, Saad Daaboul, a trader in the Marjeh market, considered that the implementation of the constitutional entitlement on time will reflect on the reconstruction process and will support the economic gains that have been achieved, indicating that his participation in the elections is part of his national duty towards his children and their future.
Trader Zaid Mahmoud saw that the economy will reap the fruits of the success of the presidential elections, because it will be evidence that Syria is recovering and that its institutions are working, calling on all citizens to participate in voting in the elections.
Merchant Muhammad Ghanem said: “We, as merchants and commercial actors, will participate in the elections, and their success is a victory for all Syrians, and an assertion that the people decide their own destiny,” indicating that every citizen must express his opinion and elect the person capable of leading Syria in the next stage.
Merchant Muhammad Qabalan indicated that as commercial actors, they will support the electoral process and work to ensure its success, because that is the only guarantee for the stability of Syria, pointing out that the return of economic life to what it was before the crisis can only be by continuing to support the country and its institutions.
