Iranian Minister of Roads and Urbanization Muhammad Islami, Chairman of the Joint Iranian-Syrian Economic Committee, discussed with the Syrian economic delegation the prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to advance it, given that the current stage requires serious and fruitful cooperation.

During his meeting today with the Syrian delegation, which included the assistants of the Ministers of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Eng. Jamal Al-Din Shuaib and Industry Dr. Jamal Al-Omar, Director General of the Syrian Trade Ahmed Negm and Eng. Haris Makhlouf, Director General of the General Organization for Textile Industries, in the presence of the Syrian ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub, the Iranian minister confirmed “that there is Projects to be worked on leading to joint investments between the two sides with the participation of the private sector, ”pointing out that the two sides announce the completion of works to facilitate trade exchange, including financial, banking, and land transport matters to overcome the effects of unilateral coercive sanctions against the two countries.

On the other hand, Islami emphasized that holding the presidential elections in Syria is a victory for them, noting the stability of Syria's political position.

In addition, Dr. Hamid Zad Boum, Assistant Minister of Industry and Head of the Iranian Trade Development Organization, during his meeting with the Syrian economic delegation discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation in the areas needed by the Syrian sectors that achieve tangible results on the ground.

For his part, Shuaib stressed the need to upgrade the level of economic relations and trade exchange between Syria and Iran, depending on the resources available to each party, noting the meetings that the Syrian delegation held with its Iranian counterparts and the familiarization visits on some of the achievements, projects and production lines that showed full readiness for joint cooperation.

For his part, the Assistant Minister of Industry affirmed that there is a serious will to work and cooperate with the Iranian side and raise the level of industrial cooperation, saying, “During our visit, we learned about Iranian capabilities, existing technologies and technology, and what has been achieved of projects that are being worked on, including the establishment of a battery plant in addition to the possibility of increasing the production capacity of mineral water. And benefit from the raw materials available on the Iranian side that are needed by the Syrian industries. There are also some machines and lines for the manufacture of cheese and dairy products.

In turn, Ambassador Diop stressed the necessity of implementing what was agreed upon to achieve a qualitative leap in bilateral cooperation and raise the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, pointing out that the mutual visits open wider and comprehensive horizons for bilateral cooperation by examining the potentials and needs of each party.

For his part, Eng. Makhlouf indicated the possibility of cooperation with the Iranian side in the field of textile industries, as Syria has experiences in these industries.

In a statement to SANA's correspondent in Tehran, Islami affirmed that the two countries' will is firm to strengthen relations and cooperation between them through the held meetings, noting that a strategic contract was signed between the two countries and the establishment of a joint chamber of commerce that would introduce traders and industrialists to each other.

Yesterday, the Syrian economic delegation discussed with Brigadier Hashmati Pour, director of the Itka Corporation for Food Industries and Iranian Processing in Tehran, to strengthen economic cooperation relations between Syria and Iran.
