Virologists and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) urge caution despite the falling incidence, but many companies want to get back to their normal routine as soon as possible.
Economics minister Peter Altmaier wants to at least partially accommodate the companies and has announced the prospect of gradual relaxation of the home office requirement.
"I believe that the idea of returning to normality certainly also means that you can then work on site again where it makes sense," said the CDU politician in the "Bild" talk "Die right questions «.
There will be "step by step fewer regulations" for home offices.
At the same time, however, he believed that many employees could still work from home, said Altmaier.
Many employers and employees came to terms and made more flexible working models possible.
That is one of the positive lessons from the Corona crisis.
In view of falling incidences, the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI) had called for an end to the home office and testing requirement in companies.
Progress in vaccination must be linked to a return to normal business operations, according to a position paper addressed to the federal government.
The BDI advocated a step-by-step plan that defines how corona measures can be reduced and abolished in companies.
The FDP also spoke out in favor of a quick end of the home office obligation.
"This is the completely wrong way in a time when jobs and livelihoods are already at stake," said Michael Theurer, member of the executive committee of the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung".
The Corona Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance stipulates that employers must offer home offices wherever possible.
Conversely, there is also an obligation for employees to accept the offer of home office, provided that there are no reasons to the contrary.
According to previous plans, the regulation expires at the end of June anyway.
