The salaries of the almost 6 million registered workers in the private sector, with contributions to Social Security,
increased 38.9%
in 12 months, to March.
Well below the average year-on-year inflation of 42.6%, and the rise in basic food prices of 48%.
But among
half of those
private formal
wage earners
with lower salaries - which are about 2.9 million -
the salary increase was only 35.9%
, according to the records of the Ministry of Labor.
This is a 4.7% loss compared to inflation and just over 8% compared to the rise in food prices.
These official figures show that the real deterioration in formal wages - which
has already accumulated 4 years of continuous setbacks
- not only did not stop but continues to erode the purchasing power of families.
And he explains that
many unions are reconsidering the requests for salary increases
due to the delay in which they were in relation to inflation and with respect to what was agreed in the labor agreements just months ago.
On average, in March,
the formal gross salary in the private sector was $ 85,979
.
After the retirement and social work discounts, there was an effective salary,
"in hand", of $ 71,362
.
These values already reflect the impact of the first salary agreements that were signed at the beginning of the year.
Meanwhile,
half of the
formal
workers
had a remuneration below $ 63,014, which, after the retirement and health discounts, has
an effective income of less than $ 52,301.
In March, according to INDEC, the value of the basic family basket (“poverty”) with 2 minor children was $ 60,873.68.
This means that even with the collection of the family salary by these 2 boys, a
good part of the salaried workers registered at the head of a typical family is poor.
According to the latest Report of the Social Debt Observatory of the UCA (Argentine Catholic University) of the 4,320,000 employed poor,
24.7% are formal salaried
, 25.4% are unregistered salaried, 45.7% are self-employed own unregistered and 4.2% self-employed with contributions.
The Report highlights that a “relevant aspect” of the increase in poverty is the
accelerated worsening
that workers in establishments in the private formal sector have had, even slightly above the worsening of workers in the microinformal sector ”.
These figures reveal "that workers in higher-productivity establishments have also faced a
process of impoverishment
as a result of macroeconomic dynamics," the Report states.
