Damascus-SANA

Director of the Local Production and Exports Support and Development Authority, Thaer Al-Fayyad, confirmed that the authority is currently working on issuing a Syrian exporters guide, which includes all exporting commercial and industrial companies from the private and public sectors in both Arabic and English, in preparation for its publication on the platforms of the authority and the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade on the Internet.

The guide, according to what Al-Fayyad told SANA, includes the addresses of the companies, their locations and the investment map for them, and it will be distributed to Syrian embassies abroad with the aim of introducing countries to Syrian export companies, which facilitates the possibility of direct communication with the industrialist or the exporting company, and it falls within the plan of the Media Authority to promote Syrian products, which also includes participation annually In 20 international exhibitions, where the authority pays 50 percent of the space or decoration reservation.

Al-Fayyadh indicated that the authority is working at the same time, in cooperation with partners, to rehabilitate the currently operating export companies to be model specialized in the industrial, agricultural, commercial or chemical sectors, in addition to qualifying some industrialists and merchants to establish new qualified export companies, pointing out that relying on shipping and clearance offices does not dispense with Export companies.

Al-Fayyadh indicated that there is a plan to study the possibility of subsidizing some materials that achieve added value above 50 percent, indicating that within the export subsidy program, the authority pays 15 percent of the bill that the industrialist costs from fuel and electricity, and the focus is currently on the quality of production prepared for export through a study prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture to produce Specific model crops with competitive specifications suitable for foreign markets

Regarding the citrus reliability program, Al-Fayyadh drew attention to working with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Farmers’ Union to find certified model citrus farms to come up with a product that competes with foreign markets in terms of residual effect and the type of pesticides and fertilizers, which started this year with an area of 15 dunums.

With regard to the most prominent materials exported from Syria to abroad, Al-Fayyad indicated that a decision was issued to re-export potatoes since the beginning of June 2021, due to the presence of a surplus in local production, indicating that materials such as cherries, apricots, peaches and food industries of agricultural origin occupy the first place, followed by some engineering, chemical and cosmetic industries.

According to Al-Fayyad, 2020 was the best year for recovery during the crisis period, as exports achieved an increase of 50 to 60 percent during the months of June, July, August and September compared to the same period in 2019.
