After reaching an agreement with the EU, the US government also agreed with Great Britain on easing the trade dispute over Airbus and Boeing.

Both sides agreed to suspend mutual punitive tariffs for the next five years.

UK Trade Secretary Liz Truss said the deal was good news for big employers and sectors like aviation.

So far, Scottish whiskey has been affected by punitive tariffs in the USA.

Two days ago, the EU and the US committed themselves to waiving punitive tariffs by 2026.

This defused the conflict over the aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing.

Since Brexit, Great Britain has had to make agreements with its trading partners independently of the EU.

Airbus also has various locations in Great Britain.

The subsidy dispute goes back almost 17 years. US President Biden said the US and the EU would now cooperate more closely to parry China's unfair trade practices. Great Britain and the USA have also agreed on closer cooperation here, the Ministry of Commerce announced in London.

The EU and the US accuse each other of paying illegal billion-dollar subsidies for Airbus and Boeing.

Under Biden's predecessor Donald Trump, the United States had received permission from the World Trade Organization (WTO) to impose punitive tariffs on European goods and services worth $ 7.5 billion, including 25 percent on wines and spirits and 15 percent on Airbus aircraft.

A year later, the EU also received WTO approval to impose punitive tariffs on US imports worth four billion dollars.
