The discussions of the Board of Directors of the Damascus and Rural Chamber of Industry with the delegation of the Iraqi Ministry of Industry focused on the prospects for commercial and industrial investment opportunities between the two countries and ways to overcome the existing difficulties related to the flow of export of Syrian goods to Iraq.
The meeting in the Damascus Chamber of Industry discussed the next strategic steps to build real partnerships that serve the industrial sector between the two countries, in addition to the issues of trade exchange and the sharing of industrial expertise.
The members of the Iraqi delegation presented investment opportunities in the Iraqi industrial sector, in light of the presence of about 40,000 suspended or partially destroyed industrial facilities in need of rehabilitation and operation, with the availability of labor and raw materials, in addition to thousands of opportunities to establish new laboratories in partnership with the public and private sectors, with the facilities available to businessmen from Input and output of funds and product marketing opportunities.
Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh explained in a statement to the media that today's meeting is to discuss prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries and the development of the industrial sector in the interest of Syria and Iraq.
In a similar statement, the Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, Manhal Aziz Al-Khabbaz, confirmed the Iraqi and Syrian sides' efforts to reach a consensus situation in the industrial field and trade exchange after the proposals submitted by the two sides, and to see the added value of industrial products, their quality and quality, and work mechanisms in them to study the possibility of cooperation in this field.
Al-Khabbaz expressed his aspiration for partnership in the industrial field and the expansion of trade exchange, and said: The Syrian brothers are very open and hope to have a big role in the Iraqi market, as well as the Iraqis aspire to have a big role in the Syrian market.
Head of the Damascus and its countryside Chamber of Industry Samer Al-Debs stressed the importance of cooperation with Iraqi businessmen to invest the commercial and industrial opportunities available in the two countries and to establish partnerships in various industries for the benefit of the economies of the two brotherly countries, pointing to the importance of facilitating trade exchange and solving the problem of transporting Syrian goods from Syrian trucks to Iraqi by allowing Syrian and Iraqi cars to enter the two countries, reducing fees beyond the Syrian border, granting Syrian goods preferential advantages when entering Iraq, facilitating the granting of multiple entry visas to Syrian industrialists and traders to Iraq, facilitating the establishment of export fairs between the two countries, and facilitating the payments system.
